Hello, am clearing some Language Arts resources off my shelves to make room for the next level of IEW...
Postage is extra.
Classical Conversations Essentials of the English Language (2011) $5 (looseleaf pages to go into a binder – ec/like new)
Grammar program designed for small group/coop settings. Essentials is pitched at the classical ‘dialectic’ stage (middle school or Aus stages 3-4) and has Christian- themed content. Students memorize the parts of speech and rules for constructing a sentence, which is grammar-level learning, but they are also asked to sort and analyze and use that information to identify words and write their own sentences.
IEW PAL: Writing . Teacher’s Manual plus DVD-Rom (which includes student material & audio files) (2011) spiral bound, ec/like new $25
The Writing Road to Reading (Spalding, 2012) pb gc $4
From Cathy Duffy Review: “This thorough, intensive phonics program consists of a single manual (book) instructing the teacher how to present phonics, writing, and spelling in great detail as a unified, multisensory language arts program. If you use The Writing Road to Reading (WRR), it contains everything we need to teach those subjects through sixth grade level, covering all phonics and spelling rules. (You might use it only through about third grade level.) The heart of the program is the phonograms which children practice saying, reading, and writing in their notebooks.”
As for me, I dipped in & out of it K-3 – really helped me grasp phonics-based instruction. Also used the numerous sample dialogues to explain types of writing, paragraph composition etc. AAR & AAS were my main spines – really recommend those!
