      AussieHomeschool Closing Down   11/14/2019

All good things must come to an end and AussieHomeschool is no different. It is with much sadness yet even more necessity that this must be so.   As of Sunday evening, 17/11/2019 the Discussion Forums will close. The Classifieds, for now although not indeterminate, will continue as is.       Why is this happening now? In all honesty, it probably should have happened many years ago but I created this forum, which originally a homeschool classifieds forum for Aussies, about 20 years or so ago. I, along with others for whom I am gratefully indebted to, have spent many, many hours sweating, laughing, praying, crying, writing, apologising, pleading and speaking about this wonderful place. In this day and age of Social Media, along with our ages and therefore differernt stages of life, it is simply not viable in any way for it to continue. You may think differently and that's okay - you honestly have to have lived through some of the dramas and learning opportunities that we all have to truly appreciate why we have the standards that we do - they were borne out of necessity and not undertaken lightly. Much blood, sweat and tears have been spilt over this place. Even more friendships, learning, debate, love, prayer and great times have been had becuase of AussieHomeschool. No one could ever be more thankful for it than I.

I understand you may feel frustration or even anger and for that I apologise, I feel you. But now it is YOUR time to go out and spread the word of home education and its benefits. Share YOUR story, tell those you know and don't know about homeschooling and what is has done for your family.   On behalf of John (my long suffering and patient husband), myself and the ENTIRE moderating team over the many years - I THANK YOU and WISH YOU ALL THE VERY BEST IN ALL YOUR ENDEAVOURS.   God Bless, Susan (HomeGrownKids /  AussieHomeschool)

CurrClick Freebies: Timeline, Copywork and ChristianityAussieHomeschool

CurrClick has a huge variety of downloadable products, ranging in price. Whilst surfing around this morning I found just a few that I thought I’d share with you.

The Shelter: Psalm 91 Copywork

Copywork has been shown to improve not only handwriting, but spelling and grammar, many are seeing amazing benefits from consistently adding copywork into the school week. However, the benefits of memorising Scripture are useful for building character, a love for God and faith in Him.

The Psalm 91 copywork eBook allows children to obtain all the benefits of copywork and Scripture memory, using one of the most wonderful verses in Scripture of God’s protection and care for us.

This daily copywork eBook takes your child step-by-step through Psalm 91, teaching reading fluency, spelling, grammar, handwriting, writing and the Word of God. By the end of the year, your child will be able to recite and write the entire verse from memory.

Included in the introduction are instructions for using the Charlotte Mason method of copywork and dicatation to improve spelling, grammar and language usage.

Christianity 2000

From Christian Cottage
Studies include: creating a puzzle showing the signs of the times, studying trust, making a cloud in a jar and studying weather patterns, studying survival skills and using them on an outing, interpretation of the poem, “Twas the Night Before Jesus Came,” reaching out to the persecuted church, investigating the mark of the beast, interviewing a Rabbie or a Moslem priest, creating a volcano and graphing major earthquakes, making and handing out tracts.

This 10-lesson unit is rich with activities to teach Bible, history and science combined. You only need to add grammar, phonics and math because you will have four levels of literature suggestions and weekly creative writing activities as well. Each Christian Cottage Unit Study includes “Main Points to Study” and vocabulary lists with a glossary for review and mastery. Introductory materials are included at no extra charge.

The Timeline Project

From Brandenburg Studies
See History and how events relate…
Welcome to the Timeline Project. You’re about to embark on an exciting and enriching experience—and not just in education. As you work on your timeline, you will begin to see how specific events fit into history; how seemingly distant and unrelated battles, inventions, etc. can come to together in time, culminating in world-wide effect. And if nothing else, you will begin to have a greater grasp of World, as well as “specific” history.

This is a “hands-on” project (not already printed up) that is designed with the thought in mind that your student(s) will continue to work on adding to the timeline as s/he learns history over the school year(s)–we have been working on ours for several years and neighbourhood kids are as thrilled about new additions as our kids are!. Pre-printed, illustrated Timelines are beautiful and “wow” us for a short time. If that is what you are looking for–this is not it. However, I have found that as the student(s) invests in filling in his/her timeline–there is not only lasting interest, but a tremendous pride in learning facts, inter-relationships of events, etc–and for the student(s) NOTHING congeals history like the TimelineProject!
